About

Histidine, or the most common supplement form of L-Histidine powder is an essential amino acid. It is nearly always found in abundance in the body and plays a large role in metabolic processes. Histidine is not often used as a supplement as there is very little science behind it.

Due to its rare use as a supplement, histidine is generally only found in L-Histidine powder form.

There are no well studied general use benefits of histidine supplementation.

Histidine should be avoided in those with a folic acid deficiency

There is insufficient evidence for its use as a treatment for diarrhea during cholera antibiotic treatments, for metabolic syndrome, allergic diseases, eczema, arthritis, and ulcers.
